A Family New Year

December 27, 2012 – Akira, Marci and I arrive in Shobara, Hiroshima for the holidays.   We have been on the road about twelve hours. Long drive for Akira.  Bless him.  All along the Expressways of Japan there are these…

The “Station”

I feel comfortable now – getting on and off the bus, remembering to use my pass card when entering and leaving the bus, sliding it over the square-shaped meter, listening for the beep.  After finding a place to sit, looking…

My first week

My first week in Japan is over and it seems to have gone quite fast. My energy has switched around now and I feel pretty good.  I also have experienced my first earthquake.  Akira had just told me that they…

About Sharon

I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. I spent most of my life there raising a family, owning a business and being involved with the community.

Now a senior citizen, I live with my daughter, Michelle and her husband, George in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Just before coming to Dearborn, I had the chance to live with my daughter, Marci and her husband, Akira for almost a year in Hachioji, Tokyo, Japan. I have a bonus daughter too, Mikaela who lives in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I am blessed to have these women as daughters and these men as sons-in-law, my teachers one and all.

I begin writing six years ago as a way to keep in touch with friends and family while I was living in Japan. This led to contributing to a book and now I am working on a memoir.
